About the role
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the company’s financial records and statutory reporting, ensuring that financial data is reliable, audit-ready, and suitable for investor reporting.
Accounting activities are centralized in Spain. The role leads the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensures compliance with Spanish SII VAT reporting and US sales tax obligations, and maintains structured financial data that supports management reporting, financial planning, and investor updates.
The Accounting Manager also oversees the execution and control of treasury operations, ensures strong internal controls over payment processes, and coordinates with external advisors responsible for statutory filings across international entities.
The company has a strong focus on research and development, and the role supports annual R&D certification processes related to innovation tax incentives, working with internal teams and external advisors.
This role manages a small accounting team and plays a key part in building scalable, high-quality finance processes in an international SaaS environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Accounting Operations
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Oversee general ledger, accruals, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Ensure proper accounting for subscription-based revenue and international customer invoicing.
Maintain reconciliation between billing data and accounting records, including deferred revenue where applicable.
Ensure strong balance sheet integrity, with clear reconciliations and supporting documentation.
Supervise and develop a small accounting team, ensuring high-quality execution of accounting processes.
Financial Reporting & Data Integrity
Support monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
Ensure accounting data is accurate, consistent, and structured to support internal reporting and analysis.
Maintain accounting records structured by cost centers, aligned with FP&A requirements.
Ensure consistency between accounting records and management reporting outputs.
Provide reliable financial data for investor reporting and decision-making.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with Spanish tax and regulatory requirements, including:
SII VAT reporting
Corporate tax compliance
Statutory financial statements
Oversee accounting processes supporting US sales tax compliance, ensuring accurate data and reconciliations.
Coordinate with external tax advisors across jurisdictions.
International Accounting Coordination
Maintain accounting oversight across international entities.
Ensure consistency of accounting policies and accurate recording of intercompany transactions and balances.
Coordinate with external advisors responsible for statutory filings.
Ensure alignment between group accounting records and statutory financial statements.
Treasury & Payment Operations
Oversee the execution and control of treasury operations, including executing payment processing and banking activities.
Ensure end-to-end control of payment processes, including segregation of duties and audit trails.
Audit & Investor Readiness
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process across group entities.
Ensure accounting records and documentation are audit-ready at all times.
Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
Support investor reporting, due diligence, and financing processes.
R&D and Cross-functional Collaboration
Support R&D certification and tax incentive processes, ensuring accurate financial documentation.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams where required to support innovation-related reporting.
Finance Operations & Scalability
Develop and maintain scalable accounting processes and controls.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and financial controls.
Strengthen documentation, workflows, and accounting standards as the company grows.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Strong communication, leadership and team management skills with a focus on team building and professional development.
Experience leading or mentoring team members.
7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a technology or SaaS environment.
Experience working in international, multi-entity structures.
Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP (PGC) and Spanish tax compliance.
Experience managing financial close, audits, and statutory reporting.
Experience coordinating with external advisors and auditors.
Strong technical accounting expertise.
High attention to detail and strong internal control mindset.
Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Process improvement and systems-oriented mindset.
Fluent Spanish and English (written and spoken)
